We believe that ‘water baptism’ is considered an act of obedience and a public declaration of faith. It symbolizes the believer’s identification with the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ. We practice baptism by full immersion, immersing the believer completely underwater, reflecting the cleansing and renewal that occurs spiritually.
We base water baptism on key passages from the New Testament. Romans 6:4 describes baptism as a representation of Christ’s death and resurrection. For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives.
We do not view baptism as a means of salvation but rather as an important step of obedience following a personal decision to accept Jesus Christ. It publicly demonstrates the individual’s faith and commitment to Christ’s lordship. Baptism follows repentance and conversion, signifying a new life in Christ. Baptism is a testimony to the community of faith and should be done only by those who have consciously chosen to follow Christ.
We believe baptism is only appropriate for those who have reached an age of accountability and have made a person profession of faith. This means that infants are not baptized, as faith must be an informed, voluntary decision. Children and adults alike are baptized after they have expressed genuine repentance and belief in Christ. It is a conscious commitment rather than a ritual.
Anyone who has made a personal decision to believe in and follow Jesus Christ.
Our Pastors perform the baptisms at Grace. We are flexible to have a member of your family assist in the baptism, please notify us in advance.
Generally, the request to be baptized is answered within one to two weeks after the request has been submitted. Baptisms are scheduled on Sunday’s. The date is confirmed with the individual who is requesting to be baptized.
Baptisms are performed on Sundays during worship.
