JOY Ministry

What is JOY Ministry

The JOY Ministry at Grace Church is a vibrant community specifically designed to engage and support women in their spiritual journey. The acronym JOY stands for “Just Older Youth,” reflecting a spirit of lifelong vitality and growth.

Purpose and Vision

The ministry serves as a dedicated space for women of all ages to connect deeply with their faith and one another. Its primary goal is to encourage, equip, and empower women through a combination of biblical teaching, mentorship, and shared life experiences.

  • Relatable Community: It provides a “safe harbor” for women to navigate unique life challenges—ranging from career and family dynamics to personal spiritual growth and self-care.
  • Spiritual Mentorship: Following the Titus 2 biblical model, the ministry facilitates opportunities for more experienced women to mentor younger women, passing down both practical life skills and spiritual wisdom.
  • Emotional Support: The ministry acts as a vital network during major life transitions, such as marriage, motherhood, or periods of loss, ensuring that no woman has to walk through a difficult season alone.
  • Empowerment: It offers a platform for women to discover and utilize their spiritual gifts in areas like teaching, hospitality, and community service.

It means that while we may have more life experience, our spirits remain young and vibrant! The JOY Ministry is for women who are entering or are already in the “second half” of life. We focus on the idea that our purpose doesn’t expire with age, and we continue to serve, learn, and have fun together.

We balance spiritual growth with social connection. This includes monthly luncheons, off-site excursions, and “heritage” projects where we share wisdom with the younger generation at Grace Church. We also hold specific prayer circles focused on the needs of our families and community.

While the ministry is geared toward our “seasoned” members (typically 50+), we don’t check IDs at the door! If you feel like you are in a stage of life where you are looking for deeper fellowship with other mature women of faith, or if you simply want to learn from those who have walked the path before you, you are more than welcome.
