The Miracle of God’s Love: Three Truths

I AM LOVED BY GOD.
Romans 5:8 (NIV) But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

1 John 4:16 (NIV) And so we know and rely on the love God has for us.
God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.


I CAN GIVE LOVE.
John 13:34-35 (NIV) 34 “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
Ephesians 5:1-2 (MSG) Watch what God does, and then you do it, like children who learn proper behavior from their parents. Mostly what God does is love you. Keep company with him and learn a life of love. Observe how Christ loved us. His love was not cautious but extravagant. He didn’t love in order to get something from us but to give everything of himself to us. Love like that.


The only way to love like God loves is to let God love THROUGH me.
1 John 4:11-12 (NIV) Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 12 No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.
Matthew 25:37-40 (NIV) 37 “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’ 40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

Romans 14:17 (TPT) For the kingdom of God is not a matter of rules about food and drink, but is in the realm of the Holy Spirit, filled with righteousness, peace, and joy.

COUNTERFEIT: SPIRIT OF DIVINATION & PYTHON 
Acts 16:17-18   (Berean Study)  “ … This girl followed Paul and the rest of us, shouting. “These men are servants of the Most High God, who are proclaiming to you the way of salvation.” She continued this for many days. Eventually Paul grew aggravated (grieved, annoyed, angered) that he turned and said to the spirit, In the name of Jesus Christ I command you to come out of her!” And the spirit left her that very moment.

Don’t Miss Your Opportunity
Some choose to IGNORE the King.
Matthew 2:4-6 (NIV) 4 When he had called together all the people’s chief priests and teachers of the law, he asked them where the Messiah was to be born. 5 “In Bethlehem in Judea,” they replied, “for this is what the prophet has written: 6 “‘But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah,  are by no means least among the rulers of Judah; for out of you will come a ruler who will shepherd my people Israel.’”
Jeremiah 22:21 (NLT) I warned you when you were prosperous but you replied, ‘Don’t bother me.’ You have been that way since childhood— you simply will not obey me!

Some choose to OPPOSE the King.
Matthew 2:7-8; 13 (NIV) 7 Then Herod called the Magi secretly and found out from them the exact time the star had appeared. 8 He sent them to Bethlehem and said, “Go and search carefully for the child. As soon as you find him, report to me, so that I too may go and worship him.”…. 13 When they had gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. “Get up,” he said, “take the child and his mother and escape to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you, for Herod is going to search for the child to kill him.”


Be those who choose to seek and WORSHIP the King.

Matthew 2:1-2 (NLT) 2 Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the reign of King Herod. About that time some wise men from eastern lands arrived in Jerusalem, asking, 2 “Where is the newborn king of the Jews? We saw his star as it rose, and we have come to worship him.”
Matthew 2:11 (NIV) On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.
The Shepherds: Hope and Joy See: Luke 2:8-18
The Reason for HOPE, The Foundation for JOY

1. It begins with an ENCOUNTER.
Luke 2:8-10 (NLT) 8 That night there were shepherds staying in the fields nearby, guarding their flocks of sheep. 9 Suddenly, an angel of the Lord appeared among them, and the radiance of the Lord’s glory surrounded them. They were terrified, 10 but the angel reassured them. “Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people.

John 15:11 (NLT) I have told you these things so that you will be filled with my joy. Yes, your joy will overflow!


It is sustained by REJOICING.
Habakkuk 3:17-18 (NIV) 17 Though the fig tree does not but and there are no grapes on the vines,though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, 18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior.


Philippians 4:4-5 (NIV) 4 Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! 5 Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.


It is kept by not SETTLING for anything less.
Psalm 51:10-12  (TLB) 10 Create in me a new, clean heart, O God, filled with clean thoughts and right desires. 11 Don’t toss me aside, banished forever from your presence. Don’t take your Holy Spirit from me. 12 Restore to me again the joy of your salvation, and make me willing to obey you.

What Gratefulness Does
1. Gratefulness recognizes what God has DONE. (Past)
Luke 17:15-16 (ESV) 15 Then one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, praising God with a loud voice; 16 and he fell on his face at Jesus’ feet, giving him thanks. Now he was a Samaritan.
Psalm 9:1 (NLT) I will praise you, Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all the marvelous things you have done.
2. Gratefulness shouts what God is DOING. (Present)
1 Thessalonians 5:18 (NLT) Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.
Psalm 50:23 (ESV) The one who offers thanksgiving as his sacrifice glorifies me; to one who orders his way rightly I will show the salvation of God!”

3. Gratefulness sets us up for what God is GOING TO DO. (Future)
1 Chronicles 29:12-14 (NLT) 12 Wealth and honor come from you alone, for you rule over everything. Power and might are in your hand, and at your discretion people are made great and given strength.
13 “O our God, we thank you and praise your glorious name! 14 But who am I, and who are my people, that we could give anything to you? Everything we have has come from you, and we give you only what you first gave us!
Hebrews 12:28 (ESV) Therefore let us be grateful for receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, and thus let us offer to God acceptable worship, with reverence and awe,

“Fear of Rejection”…. See Genesis 29
“How to Turn Rejection into Blessing”

1. Identify the ROOT and the FRUIT of rejection.
Genesis 29:16-17 (NLT) 16 Now Laban had two daughters. The older daughter was named Leah, and the younger one was Rachel. 17 There was no sparkle in Leah’s eyes, but Rachel had a beautiful figure and a lovely face.
John 14:18 (NIV) I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.

2. Don’t let rejection DEFINE you.
Genesis 29:31 (NIV) When the Lord saw that Leah was not loved, he enabled her to conceive, but Rachel remained childless.
*Reuben – “The Lord has seen my misery.” (Behold a son)
*Simeon – “The Lord has heard that I am not loved.” 
*Levi – “Now with three sons, my husband will love me.” (Connect)

3. Redefine what “GOOD ENOUGH” is.
Genesis 29:35 (NIV) She conceived again, and when she gave birth to a son she said, “This time I will praise the Lord.” So she named him Judah. Then she stopped having children.
Colossians 1:21-22 (TPT) 21–22 Even though you were once distant from him, living in the shadows of your evil thoughts and actions, he reconnected you back to himself. He released his supernatural peace to you through the sacrifice of his own body as the sin-payment on your behalf so that you would dwell in his presence. And now there is nothing between you and Father God, for he sees you as holy, flawless, and restored,

How to conquer the fear of death
1. Break any AGREEMENTS with death.
Proverbs 18:21 (ESV) Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits.
John 10:10 (ESV) The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.

2. Choose LIFE!
Deuteronomy 30:19  (NIV)  This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live.
Colossians 1:13 (NLT) For he has rescued us from the kingdom of darkness and transferred us into the Kingdom of his dear Son,

3. Death has been DEFEATED.
Hebrews 2:14-15 (NLT) 14 Because God’s children are human beings—made of flesh and blood—the Son also became flesh and blood. For only as a human being could he die, and only by dying could he break the power of the devil, who had[a] the power of death. 15 Only in this way could he set free all who have lived their lives as slaves to the fear of dying.

1 Corinthians 15:54-57 (NIV) 54 When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.” 55 “Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?” 56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

4 Ingredients of Thanksgiving “Serving Thankfully” John 13:1-5; 12-17
1. Serving is the greatest EXPRESSION of thankfulness.
John 13:3-5 (TPT) 3 Now Jesus was fully aware that the Father had placed all things under his control, for he had come from God and was about to go back to be with him. 4 So he got up from the meal and took off his outer robe, and took a towel and wrapped it around his waist. 5 Then he poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ dirty feet and dry them with his towel.

Hebrews 13:16 (MSG) Make sure you don’t take things for granted and go slack in working for the common good; share what you have with others. God takes particular pleasure in acts of worship—a different kind of “sacrifice”—that take place in kitchen and workplace and on the streets.


2. Serving gives purpose to your GIFTS.
1 Peter 4:10-11 (NLT) God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another.
Romans 12:6a (ESV) Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: 
3. Serving others provides a CHANNEL for God’s love.
Galatians 5:13 (NIV) You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love.
John 13:15-17 (NLT) 15 I have given you an example to follow. Do as I have done to you. 
Luke 14:23 (NIV) “Then the master told his servant, ‘Go out to the roads and country lanes and compel them to come in, so that my house will be full.

How to Win Over Worry
Change your THOUGHTS.

Matthew 6:25 (NIV) “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, (“Take no thought”) what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?
Colossians 3:1-2 (NIV) 1 Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.

Change your FOCUS.
Matthew 6:26 (NIV) Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?
Psalm 121:1-2 (TPT) I look up to the mountains and hills, longing for God’s help.
But then I realize that our true help and protection come only from the Lord, our Creator who made the heavens and the earth.

Change what you PURSUE.
Matthew 6:33-34 (CSB) 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be provided for you. 34 Therefore don’t worry about tomorrow, because tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

Philippians 4:6-7 (MSG) Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life.
“The Best Place for the Best You”
Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here.” (Matthew 17:4a)
Being in the right place . . . .
RELEASES supernatural provision.

1 Kings 17:3-4; 9 (NIV) 3 “Leave here, turn eastward and hide in the Kerith Ravine, east of the Jordan. 4 You will drink from the brook, and I have directed the ravens to supply you with food there.”
 9 “Go at once to Zarephath in the region of Sidon and stay there. I have directed a widow there to supply you with food.”
2 Corinthians 9:10 (GW) God gives seed to the farmer and food to those who need to eat. God will also give you seed and multiply it. In your lives he will increase the things you do that have his approval.

PROVIDES a place of protection.
John 10:28-30 (NIV) 28 I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all[a]; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. 30 I and the Father are one.”
2 Thessalonians 3:3 (NIV) But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one.
PREPARES you for the future.
Proverbs 19:20-21 (AMP) 20 “Listen to counsel, receive instruction, and accept correction,
That you may be wise in the time to come. 21 Many plans are in a man’s mind,
But it is the Lord’s purpose for him that will stand (be carried out).”
1 Corinthians 2:9 (GNT) “However, as the scripture says, “What no one ever saw or heard,
 what no one ever thought could happen, is the very thing God prepared for those who love him.”
Squeezing Out the Best in You …See 2 Corinthians 12:1-10
When facing opposition . . . . Don’t run away from ADVERSITY.
James 1:2-4 (NLT) 2 Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. 3 For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. 4 So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.
Break the BETRAYAL barrier.
2 Corinthians 12:7-10 (NLT) 7 even though I have received such wonderful revelations from God. So to keep me from becoming proud, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger from Satan to torment me and keep me from becoming proud. 8 Three different times I begged the Lord to take it away. 9 Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me. 10 That’s why I take pleasure in my weaknesses, and in the insults, hardships, persecutions, and troubles that I suffer for Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
Learn not to take yourself SO SERIOUSLY.

    Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in him!
The Three Flavors of the Best You
God designed you for ACHEIVEMENT.
Colossians 3:23 (TPT) Put your heart and soul into every activity you do, as though you are doing it for the Lord himself and not merely for others.
Matthew 6:33 (NIV) But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
God pre-wired you for RELATIONSHIPS.

Hebrews 10:24-25 (TPT) 24 Discover creative ways to encourage others and to motivate them toward acts of compassion, doing beautiful works as expressions of love. 25 This is not the time to pull away and neglect meeting together, as some have formed the habit of doing, because we need each other! In fact, we should come together even more frequently, eager to encourage and urge each other onward as we anticipate that day dawning.
Ecclesiastes 4:9 (NLT) Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. 
God fashioned you to be a WORSHIPPER.
Revelation 4:11 (NCV) “You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, because you made all things. Everything existed and was made, because you wanted it.”

Who is the right me?
There is the me I PRETEND to be.
Galatians 6:3 (NIV) If anyone thinks they are something when they are not, they deceive themselves.
There is the me I think I SHOULD be.
Romans 7:21-24 (NIV) 21 So I find this law at work: Although I want to do good, evil is right there with me. 22 For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; 23 but I see another law at work in me, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within me. 24 What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death?
There is the me OTHER PEOPLE want me to be.
Proverbs 29:25 (GNT) It is dangerous to be concerned with what others think of you, but if you trust the Lord, you are safe.
There is the me that FAILS to be.
Romans 7:18 (NIV) For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature.[a] For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out.
God wants me to be the me I was MEANT to be.
Psalm 92:12-13 (NIV) 12 The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon; 13 planted in the house of the Lord, they will flourish in the courts of our God.
Ephesians 2:10 (NIV) For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
